GEFONT has asked to withdraw the latest recomendation of the Constitutional Council (CC) to appoint controversial former Chief Secretary Lokman Singh Karki as Head of the anti-graft state body- the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) by issuing a press release.
"The issue of appointment of Lok Man Singh Karki, who was fully involved in the suppression of the April 2006 democratic movement and other anti-people work and who was declared ineligible for holding any public position is unacceptable as Head the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)" the communiqué reads.
The communiqué further reads, " CIAA, which has the main role to lead the country towards corruption-less, Democratic, public-oriented and fare and good Governance, we think, the appointment of Mr Karki in constitutional body is the direct attack on the achievement of Mass Movement, 2006. "
"GEFONT condemns this anti-people step against the Political achievement gained by mobilisation and sacrifice of the large number of workers and asks Chairman of interim election Cabinet and Constitutional Council to withdraw their decision. GEFONT further draws the attention of the President on the issue." the communiqué concludes.
